Of course you are right. After Tax, NI, Council Tax, Road Fund License, Fuel Duty and VAT on most of your spending, unless you are a high earner your income is about 20% of your salary.

You make a good point - but it would be even more cost effective if you were take your money and either:
1) Hand it to the first foreigner you clap eyes on
or
2) Just throw it down the drain.
