No, to this date I have never heard of using two motherboards (anyway, using two motherboard shouldn't increase much performance if any). Nor would it increase functionality, as computer are designed to be infinitely scalable by using daisy chain cables (although practically it isn't actually infinitely scalable).
However, it is possible for a (specially made) program to be run simultaneously on two or three different computers this is called distributed computing, usually only used on programs that need an extremely lots of computer resources, that even a supercomputer can't handle. This method of computation distributes problems into sub-problems that could be solved independently, then run it on different computers, a central computer would be needed to coordinate other computers (this central computer acts like a motherboard, the computer itself doesn't do anything on the computation itself, but it coordinates everything, and thus is the most important parts of the system). In this scenario, the computers would act like a single computer (because they're solving the same problem) but actually are many machine working together (cause they all have their own set of hardwares: motherboard, HDD, RAM, CPU)

You cannot have two motherboards in one machine. The way computers are designed, each motherboard IS one machine. The number of computers you have is equal to the number of motherboards you have.

One machine can have only one motherboard, do not do what you have in mind, you will spoil the PC.
