Below is a link from the Firefighters International Union about why Rudy Guiliani will be the only Presidential candidate not invited to speak to them. I'm curious how you defend Rudy's position, if you do, and what you think of the firefighters' stand on this Presidential candidate. It just seems contradictory that Guiliani is so well-considered because of 9/11 but the brave men and women that dealt with 9/11 don't feel that way about him. Where's the disconnect and are they right?

I understand that Mahal, but I know about unions, my husband's been in one most of his life. They vote on these issues and this attitude toward Guiliani has surfaced often, along with the police officers of NYC. I'm just trying to slog through the myth to the truth and wondering what others think about it.

Go Elway, I always love your Q&A's!!! Thanks for the link, very interesting.
I never understood why people think Guiliani handled it so well. I think anyone in that position could have done AT LEAST a good of job as him, yet he could have done much more. I didn't see him pressuring Bush on his delay of any investigation into the attack, in fact he helped clean up the "evidence" aka rubble quickly and secretively, and then have it shipped off and burned. I would have wanted my mayor to demand answers. That's just me though, I guess.

Unions vote Democrat across the board. You see, NYC has this thing they like to call a "budget". Many more lives are affected in negative ways when so much money is spent when it can't be assimilated by the budget. Fact of life.
Governor Spitzer (Democrat) recently told all the over worked and underpaid nurses of NY state to stop being crybabies. He then announced a 1 BILLION dollar cut on spending on medical related exenditures. He turned his back on his faithful because of the the Lil' thing called a budget.
The act of war on America is a dirty business and so is keeping a viable working budget. The Budget was attacked on 9/11 sending our economy down coupled with the recession that began under the Clinton administration.
Time for tough choices and tough decisions in America to keep us economically strong. Our economy is the terrorists largest target...not innocent men, women, and children!
We have to fight the war against our ECONOMY and a free and liberated Muslim Middle East is the only path to world peace and an economic boom unlike the world has ever known.
TO: PEACEAND___How many funerals did Senetor Hillary attend afterall she is a "NY" Senator?
I'll give you a hint; it was less than 1.
Guiliani-----hundreds not to mention handing back a 10 million dollar check from the Saudi prince on live TV.

They never got the raises they deserved . The Police hate him also. He balanced the budget, made the quality of life better , cleaned up organized crime . I was glad he was our Mayor on that day , he instilled a sense of calm. Every candidate has groups that think they blow. I am not going to vote for him ,maybe I will never vote for a Republican again after the Holt Trinity of Bush, Chaney and Rumsfeld, don't worry he will not get the nomination. No one from New York will( Republican Party) , the rest of the country hates us. Schumer is a much better Senator then Hilary yet she is leading the chosen one and not jewish, but she could never win a National election or Obama , the South is just not ready for a minority.

Guiliani is for abortion, for stem cell research, for gun control, and for big government. yet the republicans love him? The mass media sells him as a hero of 911? A hero for what? going to funerals? that's all he did. oh yeah, he also removed and sold all of the possible evidence before any possible inspections to our military and economic enemies the chinese!
I'm not a democrat. I'm not a republican. get used to the idea american people. because neither party has the american peoples interest in mind at ALL.
God bless those firefighters and the victims who were denied a Christian burial.

Even the liberal CNN reported this story as. Giuliani was invited but had to decline because of scheduling conflicts.Firefightersnews.com is a private company owned by e-fighters LLC
Late in the recovery at ground zero, it became public that valuable were found in a vault. Fearing that large amounts of people might be at the scene trying to find new found riches. The city hurried the recovery plans .....A trying time for all of NYC and the entire nation.......God bless you Giuliani
Obviously, Austingirl doesn't live in NYC.:)

Firefighters are not in lockstep with each other.
Any time you here that ALL of the are for Giuliani or ALL of them are against him, you're a sucker if you believe it.
They all have they're own opinions.
