No huney, it's not like that. They are movies, if they were like real life they would be boring. Some movies may take reality and just make it more exciting but generally our lives are not like the movies. Some of the mannerisms and the way we talk may be close to the movies but not necessarily the way we lead our lives.

Also, a lot of Iranians, like most of my relatives think that American parents don't care about their children and just raise them immorally and let them do whatever they want. This is actually very false, we communicate with our children, discipline, and encourage them to be happy and always stand by their side. We devote our lives to our children, driving them to practice, driving them to birthday parties, checking their homework, participating in school functions, but we know when to let go of our children when it's time for them to be adults. We just don't spoil our children and let them lead structureless lives like I have many many Iranians do, many of them my own family. Many Iranians try to continue to run their children's lives even after they turn 18 or become adults.

American movies are based on American life < BUT > they always exaggerate and try to make it bigger then it usually is. Some movies more then others.

Most American young people watch those same movies and wish their life was as fun and what is in the movies. The people who make movies are trying to create a product they think others will buy so they try to make it sweater or more exciting the life of the ones who are watching.

America is a very big country and the teenage experience in America is not the same for everyone. a few may live happy care free lives and laugh their way through their childhood. But good times brings it own problems and not everyone is kind or has a sense of humor.

No. American movies are just like movies anywhere, they do not portray life like reality at all. Life and people are about the same wherever you go. We Americans wish life was like some movies, that is why we make them. We are not all pretty, smart, happy,or kind. Some of us are, but not all. Few people in America are like American movies. I haven't been to a party in months, but I've worked the last 6 of 7 days. I laughed today, but it was at a TV show. I have several problems (a couple that sometimes keeps me awake at night), and I'm very worried about the future of my children and grandchildren. But...if I get thirsty, I can walk into my kitchen and drink the water out of the fawcett and not worry about getting sick. I can walk down the street of my town and not worry about getting mugged, shot at, or arrested for nothing. I can go to whatever church I want to..even different ones every Sunday. If I wanted to, I could go to a grocery store right now (it's 3:05 am here as I write this) and buy what I need to make banana splits, tacos, steak, fish, fruit salad and I know it will be there. I don't have a great life, but I know it's a lot better than most of the people on earth. I know that I won't starve to death, or die from a simple infection. My house has heat in the winter and cool air in the summer. I just hope that YOUR life is great, that you go to lots of parties, that your stomach is full of good food, and that you laugh all the time. I hope this answers your questions. Peace, love and joy to you.

Star J, first of all, I'd like to say that I'm not American, but I have been to the US twice. You have to know that everything in movies are overblown, whether it be drama, action or comedy. When I went to the US, I found the people there to be hospitable and nice, and not rude at all. Of course most of them were cute just like in the movies, but that's about it. Most of them also have the same problem as you and I have, and that is how to earn a living.

Sorry, but that stuff in the movies is largely fiction. Most people everywhere have problems they must work on, and the U.S. is no exception.

The real reason for movies is to take your mind off your problems for a short time. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as you realize that the movies are fiction and not real life.

I guess you'd have to grow up here, to understand this kind of lifestyle...
Some of the stuff, you see in movies are true, some are not.
We usually let the old men in congress worry for us, and continue on feeling free to do what we please.
