drink lots of water, no soda pop. stop eating when you are full, run lots, stay away from junk food... and don't take advise from fat people in the gym...

drink 3 litres of water a day
eat fresh food in season
exercise as much as you like
take the stairs and walk whenever possible .... and you wont need the gym at all
