OK go to start, then go to control panel, then go to performance and maintenance, then you will see an icon that says administrative tools click that and go to computer management, then go to disk management on your left hand side which is under storage... then once you have clicked on disk management you will see your drives... right click on the one you want to change and select the one that says change drive letter and path... and that's it change it to what ever you want.

Go to control panel and press Administrative Tools.
Once you entered it click Computer Management.
Then you look to the left and find Disk Management.
After right like the D Drive and press"Change Drive Letter or Path".

thats not possible ... you have to repartition the hard disk to change that alphabet on your drive ... its different from naming the drive ... naming the drive would be like giving it a name for example bill which could be done by right clicking on the drive name and the pressing rename and entering the name that you would like to give. The drive alphabet like "C" or "D" still be there next to the name that you just gave to the drive.

But the alphabet that is assigned to a drive during partition is something that your operating systems knows the location of that drive and you won't be able to change that.

Renaming will not work. The operating system assigns drive letters based on the order of the device ID and the partitioning scheme. Try a utility such as Partition Commander to add drive letters to an existing drive.

assuming you're using windows xp, go to the computer management console which can be found in the configuration screen (I think that's what it's called in English anyway) and there you can choose disk management where you can rename and reassign your drives.
