does it act like fluorides? or like TSPP? or any desensitizing agents?

I'm guessing its either used as a buffer, as tootpaste is slightly basic in nature, or then salt crystal are brushed against the teeth it acts in a griding nature and plus removes and trapped food.

Also in high concs it is toxic to germs.
