De Niro and Jean Reno can team up one more time.

Another option would be for Reno to team up with another big name Hollywood action star. That would probably be more plausible, because De Niro is too old now, and plus his character was never really a "ronin" as we learned in the film.

In any case, I hope John Frankenheimer can make another cool Ronin movie.

In addition, the sequel can have an ensemble cast featuring some of the best European and American actors. Just like in the original.

I disagree with the first response by GuitarMan.

If the Ronin sequel is done just as good as the original if not better, fans will definitely have something to cheer about.

I think "Ronin" sequel-like movies could do alright. Ronin is a state of being, sort of, not necessarily an individual.

It would be nice to have good writing and acting carrying the movie rather than just explosions, high-speed chases and slumming fashion models in heels (forget that last bit about the models, probably need that to balance out the high levels of testosterone).

But, I'd settle for some good acting, fair writing and the eye-candy. Hell, just bring out the women... just kidding.

Debbie Does Dallas starring the original Debbie. (Self explanatory) Die Quick: Willis kills the bad guy instantly and the movie is over in 5 minutes after exploding a mere 100 buildings. Exorcist IV: The Conversion. She goes to church, gets born again, and becomes a Jehova's Witness. No wait, that would be scarier than the first movie.

if I recall currectly the production budget alone was about 55 million, and the movie didnt break even in the states.

And I do recall it being considered pretty much a flop, even with Deniro

So why they would make a second one is beyond me.
Especially with deniro as old as he is.

Ronin would have been a better Jet Li movie

P.S. follow up on the numbers
Total US Gross $41,610,884
Production Budget $55,000,000

Why? To water down a great masterpiece and join the enormous club of "let's milk this cow a little more and add water and sell watered-down milk" Hollywood's most pathetic?
