Check out this review on Sonya's Garden. I was there last year but only for lunch. As a warning, summertime weekends to Tagaytay also cause terrible traffic jams.

There are other perhaps cheaper places along the highway. Most of them residents with spare rooms for the night. Their signs are visible along the highway. But if you're coming from afar and want confirmed reservations, then probably Sonya's a good choice.

As for Baguio, per experience, it's easier ( and cheaper ) to go to Baguio unplanned than Tagaytay. So if you can make it in Tagaytay, Baguio will be a breeze. Haven't been there for some time already so am not sure if the places along Session Road still exists.

Hope both you and your friend enjoy your stay. :-)

Tagaytay has a large hostel just up the hill (maybe 100 m) from the city hall. The place looks nice although I've never seen anybody around.
