I had my tubes tide in July of 06 and still today my periods are 10 days long with the first 3 days just spotting then 4 days of heavy bleeding and 3 days of spotting again. Then this month I had some spotting in between. I had a baby in may of 06 and no birth control after that and no birth control before baby.. MY periods have always been normal before and after i have had my kids. I have 3.
So is this normal and i should just deal with it or should i talk to obgyn about it?

Thanks for the help.

Several of my friends and I have had the same problem. I have read some medical journals that speak of the 'probability' that Tubals increase heavy periods, but I think there's not much to be done.
I had my tubal 9 years ago, after my last child, and it sent me into terrible periods, and I developed endometriosis and PCOS.
What I have now is the Mirena IUD. It has the same hormones as Depo Provera, and it took 18 months, but it has finally made my periods manageable--about 6-7 days.I would often bleed for 25 days before I got it.
I'd see your GYN asap and see what can be done. I waited 7 years before I took action and I wish I'd gone to the Dr. much sooner.
Good luck

Are you breastfeeding? Breastfeeding would reason sessions to be anovulatory which makes them heavier and extra painful (there are different issues that would reason anovulatory sessions to boot). i'm having a similar problem - 3 days of soaking a pad each hour as quickly as I do have my era, and then yet another 4 days of soaking a pad each 2-3 hours to boot. I asked my healthcare professional approximately it and he mentioned the worst that would happen is which you will get anemic from the blood loss (which got here approximately to me). If this is been extra effective than a pair of sessions that this is been happening however, i might deliver it up on the gyno once you go. i do no longer think of there is any reason to circulate faster or something however. Edit - For what its worth, I additionally had a tubal ligation, so it must be pertaining to to that to boot.

I got my tubes tied/burnt 4 years ago. My periods are a lot heavier, but they don't really last longer. I don't think 10 days having a period is normal, I feel so bad for you, mine last 5 days tops. I may be wrong, just go to your D.R.

I've talked to a few of my friends who had tubal ligation and they said that their periods became longer and heavier. I would definitely talk to your OB/GYN about this to see what they think.
