The early blooming sakura is already blooming but the popular more abundant somei-yoshino will officially bloom MArch 18th in Tokyo and March 25th in Osaka.

So your chances are quite good to see them.
The average temp in Tokyo has been relatively warm in the low to the mid 50s Fahrenheit which is why the sakura is blooming so early.
As adam says - Fuji is snowtopped
Hot springs - onsen - you gotta get nude. They're generally seperated: male and female. The mixed ones generally no nudity - at least not with the women.

a thumb's down for this and for adam? Yahoo really needs to deprive children of this option.

March 29 is usually a pretty good time to view cherry blossom, but this year you'll probably be too late due to unusually warm winter.
Temerature in Tokyo is very variable right now; one day it's chilly enough for winter coats, then to warm for even spring jacket the next.
And yes, you are expected to be naked in hot springs, except for the few less traditional, amusement park-like places with many different type of hot springs where you wear swimsuit and go from one to the next.

I think you might just miss them at this time. It'll be in Tokyo at about this time. There will be snow on top of Fuji. Summertime is the only time where there is no snow on top of Fuji. Yes, you have to be naked to go into a hot spring but the sexes are seperated in different rooms.

Wow..I'd like to see Cherry blossoms too(sigh).. I guess it's very pretty everywhere
I did go to hot springs with friends but we had swimming wear or two piece.. .. but yes, there are places that you would go naked with only towel covering your private parts..that's ordinary.they don't mind at all..I did go to public baths too. yes..there are separate lockers so there is no way to be embarrased..Mostly are kids.. it is fun..they just do mind their own business ..I never felt being looked at.. everyone's busy. It was only me getting worried at that time..which I think I was the one who's curious about the things going around..(lol)
now..I just go to swimming pools and jacuzzi..
Enjoy!
