Well, Carol, It seems that we have scores of magazines, daytime talk shows and self-help books that overtly blame men for every ill in the world. While you may cite statistics regarding anorexia and other eating disorders, you conveniently leave out suicide rates between men and women. But my point centers around a VOCAL, almost arrogant proclamation of self-love (with concomitant blame or disdain toward men). If I boasted about how attractive I was (or if I boasted about anything, for that matter), I would be lambasted for being to cocky, or I would be written off as obviously insecure, since I had to proclaim to everyone how great I was.

Does that make sense? It's just a thought passing through my head at the moment.

It's just part of the back lash that is in style right now. Until the early seventies and even later, the situation was completely reversed.

Men were considered more intelligent, able to make complex decisions, were the ONLY people that could participate in sports, and in general were considered the "stronger" of the sexes. NO woman was supposed to run for office, much less pursue education in medicine, engineering, or any other schooling outside of nursing, teaching, and liberal arts.

It took 30 years for the table to be turned. Hopefully, it will turn back sooner with everyone, male or female feeling truly equal.

I agree with you that Society has been brain washed to put men down. The first time I observed that, was when the Simpson's cartoon came out on TV. Bart Simpson was always a dumb, while his wife was the smart one, the boy, another dumb while his sister a genius. I guess is a way to try to keep women thinking they are happy even thou they are not, because, not different from my grandparents time and their grandparents time, men are still dominating and they are still the strongest ones and the most happy.
As a women, I feel very ashamed by many women out there, many actress that have a successful career behaving like trash, just to keep things going, pleasing much more men than women.
What about the case of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston ? The media have humiliated Jennifer Aniston and posed Angelina Jolie as a whore ! I like both actress, but the real trash there is Brad Pitt and the media doesn't even try to insinuate that. As you can see, men are the "dominator". There is no such thing as equality. All this propaganda about men being bad and women being good is just in the media, because in the reality, very few things changed and those who really end up ashamed are us women.

It always used to be "He's a stud and she's a slapper" because men could sleep around and be thought macho and yet women would be thought poorly of.
Women being able to love themselves and men feeling ashamed is just another one of those stupid rules of society that make people feel bad, and big companies make wads of cash promoting it. It's false advertising and we all fall for it.

Think of it like this - if there was no TV and no newspapers and you only had to rely on your own feelings and not those forced on you by the media - would your question still be valid? No - because you would have the freedom to feel how you want and not how the media told you to feel!

I'll have to agree with some of the others on here. Even the ladies. I hate to generalize but women seem like the biggest self loathers from my experience. Why else would the plastic surgery business be such a huge deal? Cosmetics, fade diets, and info-mercial fitness crap too are all marketed primarily to women.

i think of you probably did not choose to hearken to this, yet honestly, i in my view do have self assurance it rather is because of the fact much less females are sitting at abode looking after the youngsters, and out interior the paintings place, and don't would desire to placed up with a super kind of crapola anymore, so as that they don't! adult men would get a splash greater "domesticated" whilst they're older, and in line with possibility some females that marry previous adult men whilst they're youthful are having 2nd techniques whilst they're greater mature, and the guy gets lots older too. Over all, nonetheless, i think of adult men have constantly been much less probable to be the single to report for divorce. they'd quite have their cake and consume it too. nicely, that may not cuttin' it with us Broads anymore, because of the fact we cookies are turning out to be lots smarter!

Could you please elaborate a bit, in regards to your question? How are men made to feel ashamed of themselves?

Easy for women to love themselves? Is this why millions of women suffer/die from anorexia each year?

It's the culture we live in, same reason men can have several girlfriends and sleep around and be congratulated and a woman who does it is considered a slut.
