monochrome is the answer..for example, if you wear chocolate brown skirt, your wear a shade of brown for your top.. your bag and shoes should match in color, may include your belt.. but i guess it would be best not to wear one color, either a shade or tint of that color.
i hope this satisfies you
also, never mix brown with any dark colors such as red, blue and especially green ( your wood resemble a tree), brown and black may do but goign monochromatic is i think the most a.ok

my rule with every color is not to wear more than 3 things of that same color..

for example:
brown shoes w/ brown shirt is cute...
or
Brown shoes, brown shirt, and brown bag is still okay..

but brown pants, boots, shirt and belt,
or pants, necklace, boots, and bag...
is wayyyy 2 much of that color

Browns are good, but my rule is.. Brown and green doesn't generally look good together (Robin hood!) In a brown outfit, a splash of color looks nice though. Brown clothing items together should be different shades.. And brown and black doesn't really go together.

Just dont wear it head to toe.. Its ok to have, say, a brown top with brown boots and a brown bag... as long as your pants are white/jeans/black.

my rule never wear brown on the lower part of the body (jeans, skirt) and green on top (shirt, polo) if you don't want to look like a tree ^^,
