I can drive soon, I will have $5,000-$7,000 to work with for my first vehicle. I want a truck, a bigger truck, such as the F-250 or Silverado 2500. Diesel maybe aswell. What's good on a Diesel, what's bad? compared to Gasoilne.

You may find a 8-10 yr old F-250 or such for 5000-7000. Most would be pretty beaten up, as they would be work trucks.

You have to keep in mind that F-250s and such are work trucks, heavy-duty, yes, but work trucks. When brand new they are in the 30000 to 40000 range. You aren't going to get much for 5000 to 7000 if you have your heart set on that type of vehicle.

Keep in mind that diesel costs MORE than gasoline at most pumps. And some states do require diesel emissions test, mainly for particulates (opaqueness test).

Pro:
- Diesel vehicles get better mileage.
- They last a long time (over 100,000 miles)
- You don't have to smog diesels.
- They're strong (torque).
- You can get free fuel if you go to fast food places and offer to take their used frying oil. All you have to do is filter it, and then just pour it in the fuel tank! (There might be more to this, so look into it.)

Cons:
- They are slow (unless you have a super/turbo charger).
- They are loud.
- Diesel exhaust smells a lot (unless you're using used frying oil, then it smells like french fries, really!)
