You might also want to bring his/her baby book to get their first handprints and footprints in it. I would put the carseat in the car and take it to the hospital for the carseat check and make sure that it is in right. Depending where you live, you might need a heavy blanket to cover the carseat if it is cold. You will also need 2 recieving blankets to roll up and use as a head support in the carseat so that their head doesnt flop around. I would bring some mittens so that the baby doesnt scrath their face. If you dont have any, socks work wonders also.

As for your bag here is what I packed in mine:

3-5 pair of socks
3 comfy outfits
toothpaste
toothbrush
brush
shampoo and conditioner
body wash
3 pair of OLD panties (they will be ruined from the bleeding)
maxi pads (overnight pads.. the hospital pads can get expensive)
washcloth or loofa sponge
deoderant
list of phone numbers to call people after baby
calling card for long distance calls
slippers
extra hairties
lip balm
camera
insurance cards

it is easier to go to Wal-Mart or somewhere and buy travel sizes for your health and beauty products instead of bringing your big bottles of shampoo and stuff.

And the formula, the hospital will provide for as long as you need to be there. They should also give you some to take home. I would bring some just in case. All hospitals are different. They also give you a bottle to use and take home. They have their own pacifiers to give to the baby but if you want the baby to get used to the ones that you have at home, request that the hospital only use the one that you brought.

Oaky I just had a little girl on the 19th feb 2007. 3 weeks old so I know all about this. I am a first time mom and had no idea what to pack.
You dont need diapers they give them to you and they give you some to take home.
everything else yes. If your gonna dress the baby in your clothes then you need to take an extra outfit, or you can keep it in the hospital t shirt. I dressed my daughter in my own clothes. You will prob go through more recieving blankets because you use them for everything but th ehospital has tons of them and its better to dirty them. wrap the baby in your own but when you change a diaper use one of theres. they give the baby a pacifier but you can take your own. You will need something to cover the babys hands, so he or she will not scratch there face. U can use the hand mittions or socks work great too. make sure u have small enough clothes. I had to send my hubby home for preemie clothes. my daughter was 6 lbs 13 oz and i was suprised she wouldnt fit into newborn clothes after all she was a newborn. shes 8 1/2 pds and just now in newborn clothes. Dont forget the carseat. a baby hairbrush, and baby lotion. There hands and feet are scaly when there born. My bag I packed a coming home outfit something comfertable. Nursing bras, socks, underware but didnt use those because u have to wear theres. The best thing was I packed my own nightgowns and it felt good to be in my own instead of a hospital gown. I wore a pair of stretchy paints under them cause a hospital is cold. Another thing I packed a robe to wear when I walked down the hall, and slippers. Of course hairbrush deodrant shampoo ect.. . And remeber a camera, and a pen cause you will fill out alot of paper work and they dont bring you one. Good luck... And change to get snacks and drinks... you dont need formula they give you a can in a diaper bag with other stuff. A bottle would be good they give you some in the hospital but not one to take home. And baby wipes. They give you ones you have to wet,and there hard. its easier to bring some so u dont have to get up to wet them and there softer. You dont need a themometer. They take the babys temp. They cut the babys nails if you want. They give you pads and icepacks and all that. They even give you some to take home. good luck..

I don't think you need anything else. Though I would modify the list a bit...

1 5 diapers (I found pampers to be the best)
2. 1 onesie
3. 1 nightgown
4. 1 st pics outfit
5 nope
6. 1 pair of socks
7. 1 pair of booties
8. nope
9 & 10 yes

Your bag:
book
sweats
couple of nursing bras
couple of nursing shirts
breast pads (in case you leak)
maxi pads with wings
couple pairs of underware
couple pairs of socks
couple of disposable cameras

Congratulations and good luck

It sounds good. If you plan to breast feed that's great, but if not you'll want to pack a bottle. As for you..
1) no slip socks
2) 2 pj's button front
3) hair brush
4) tooth brush and paste
5) sugar free hard candy
6) change for snack machine
7) reading books
8) wash cloth (to bite down on during labor)
9) camera
10) nursing bra
11) 2 out fits 4 U
12) shoes
13) makeup you may want it you may not
14) lotion
15) favorite pillow or blanket
16) heavy overnight pads
17) 3 pairs of undies
18) chap stick
19) breast pump a must either way. your breasts will be filling up even if your little one's not hungry at the moment:)
God bless you and your new life together.

Are we talking just for the day you have her or in general?
Well you need wet wipes possibly more diapers? if your bottle feeding bottles formula
and of course a camera to capture the big day
In general
I would add infant tylenol and clippers thermomitor. the basics like that
diaper rash cream

As for you you'll need a change of clothes to go home in a robe if possible to walk around in a nithgown or pajamas maybe if your hospital does that slippers? I would ask the hospital because some are different
hope that helps congrats!

I breastfeed and nonetheless save a 12oz bottle of bottled water and unmarried serving fomula packets in my diaper bag merely in case of an emergency. those I save in there each and all the time and by no skill unpack them... I had to apply them as quickly as in a concern the place i could no longer get him out of his carseat to feed him. LIFESAVER! additionally, as quickly as toddler hits approximately 4 months previous, a pair of toys may well be a good addition to the record. merely be sure you %. greater effective than one in all something that could desire to be spit up on like greater clothing, blankets, and burp cloths. I continually take a minimum of two blankets... distinctive weights so as that i'm arranged for cool climate and chilly climate. yet another good ingredient to have may well be some disposable changing pads. For some reason the single that got here with my diaper bag keeps falling out in my trunk and the disposables have been large for those emergencies. I save those disposable wash cloths that have toddler tub already on them in there too. i've got had to apply them some circumstances while he has pooped out the decrease back of his diaper. None of those issues are something which you may die devoid of, yet they are large to have in a pinch!

Your list plus:
- Baby wipes
- Extra clothes just in case they need to keep her a little longer
- A couple pairs of baby mittens (they have really scratchy nails and usually scratch themselves)
- A couple hats to keep her body heat in
- A couple extra receiving blankets

I think that about covers it.

Bring a bottle of sterile water and a small amount of formula for mixing. You may not want to go home directly after the hospital stay. You may want to show off your new baby!!What happened to your baby wipes, you`re going to need them!!

they will have blankets and teeny tshirts at the hospital also diapers. for a few days you wont want to put a onesie on because it will rub the umbilical cord. they also have hats there too. for your bag take a book, I wore the hospital gown the whole time because you will bleed and ruin it anyway. I brought shampoo and conditioner and soap for myself so i could feel better. you need to have the car seat ready to take her home, hospitals are getting strict about that these days.
