Possible. They do set the standards and expectations pretty high - being a noble knight, living happily ever after, becoming a princess, etc.

On the other hand, depression is on the rise while the dissemination of childhood fairytales seems to be waning.

So while this is plausible, there is no empirical data to support this.

well i guess so. i mean i'm depressed and i've been disappointed because there isn't true love, or perfect happy endings and such. but i don't blame the fairytales i guess. it's just my fear to grow up and realize that while the world isn't perfect there still is a lot of good in it. it depends on the person.

Songs, like Rock-a-bye baby and old Bugs Bunny cartoons; one could think that, THAT could contribute to one's warped mind, but if you don't take them seriously as a kid, then hopefully, you'll be fine as an adult.
