And i'm doing in J2EE...
Mine is making a social network like orkut...
It has really been fun working on it... do that...

do a server client project:
database on sql server, and interface using .net
make an inventory application: something like purchasing, sale, transfers from warehouse to warehouse... and u can generate reports using crystal reports
u ll find lot of stuff on the net that would help u

Create a Blog site or a message board site. You can get lots of help like code and examples from the Internet. And it can be used for your personal site too.. in future may be...

you can do some client server based projects... have a databse and an application using that... maybe like a Bank, Payroll processing system... a billing system..
also let me know the degreee u pursing... i believe its something related to Computer applications...
