Because they are too self absorbed to realize the horrors of the diamond industry. Also, in keeping with the traditions of diamond marketing, many of those celebrities are given those diamonds for free or even paid to wear them. Relatively cheap advertising the way so many idolize the rich and famous.

I don't see any connection to rap stars and the elite, with the killings for diamonds in black-markets via third world countries.
The blame needs to be placed where it belongs - within the world governments who are corrupt and greedy. They really are the ones who set the pace for the events you speak of. If these governments weren't so corrupt, they would implement some oversight in these volatile activities and investments.
You cannot use that as an excuse to degrade a person who have capitalized the market with their sounds(rap music). They have earned every right to pamper and reward themselves for their hard work and achievements.

people assume that the diamonds are gotten in a legal manner. when you see them there in the store , you just think they are ok. there needs to be laws that make the dealers and retailers who handle diamonds, show proof where they got them from, and an agency with enough workers to oversee the sales. . don't blame the rap artists. blame the smugglers.
