Indian Divorce Act 1869 applies to Christians. Muslims are governed by their religious laws: Islam through Shariat Application Act 1937. Hindus (including Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Lingayaths, veerashivas, etc.) are governed by Hindu Marriage Act 1955 enacted by Indian Parliament by members of different castes & religions including Muslims, Christians, Atheists, etc.
