iron is magnetic because of the electrons all spin in the same direction.

Gold is shiny because it doesnt corrode. It's impervious to oxidation from water, air, chemicals, and acid. So gold remains as it is, shiny as always. And all ferrous metals are magnetic, Iron, steel, tin, to be a few.
