Every living thing is smart in its own domain.
Camels are very smart:
1. They know where to find water in a desert (They route-map and navigate very well by sun's and star's positions)
2. They can go without water for weeks on a trot.
3. They can predict sand storms in deserts.
4. They know how to protect themselves from sand storms.
4. They are smart enough to participate in travel, war, races, etc.
5. They know how to protect themselves (by blowing bad breath on the intruder's face, and also by biting)
6. They are the only animals who make the maximum utilisation of minimum available energy.
7. They have evolved very well to arid desert life.

What that other guy listed isn't intelligence, it's just adaptation and instinct. But they have adapted very well. Don't take my word on it but I've heard that they are just as smart or smarter than some horses.
