I don't know why I have to put up with this type of behavior. This is America for crying out loud. But the classrooms at my college are nasty. The floors are very dirty and there is trash that isn't getting picked up. The wastebaskets are getting emptied regularly but everything about our classroom is so untidy.

I feel that it is my duty to complain about all of this. But who am I supposed to complain to? I shouldn't have to worry about slipping on "hydraulic fluid" on the floor. But that's just the way it is since I started going to class there.

Most schools have a uniform complaint procedure. A copy of this should be accessible. I would go to Students services and ask. If not student services should point you in the right direction. That is their job!

Since college tuition is way too high, I think you should complain that you aren't getting your money's worth and the unsanitary conditions of the school make the environment unsafe.

Report them to the Department of Health in your area and also get the teachers Union involved.

Speaking as a college professor, let me tell you that I've sometimes had to contact the custodial department myself to let them know about a messy classroom, or spill on the floor.

But as a student, you can always notify tell your professor, and/or let your Department's Secretary and/or Dean know about it.

Most often, we assume that the custodial staff does their job and does it well, but unless somebody informs us otherwise, we don't generally walk around to the individual classrooms ourselves.

So I would definitely suggest contacting your department and/or Dean to let them know about this!
