You may give your son tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil (ibuprofen). The dosage is based on weight. It can help your son feel better!
Baby Orajel can be used. It lasts for twenty minutes and can only be given every six hours. It can impair a child's gag reflex and therefore should not be given an hour before he eats or drinks anything.
Many babies do like to chew on a cold washcloth.

If he's hurting you can give him baby tylenol it wont hurt him. If you dont hae any of his teething meds around do you have a teething ring you can use a cold wash cloth frozen waffle something soft and cold that he cant choke on with food obviously watch him so he doesnt get a chunk in his mouth that he could choke on but maybe a popcicle ( I know messy but it works) My mother used to put a little whiskey on my gums but I never have and I dont think many people do that anymore It works too but its alcohol that little bit wont hurt him but people feel differently about things like that that basicly just numbs the area. hope this helps you good luck
p.s. you just answered my question i added a detail would you mind looking at it again? Thanks and good luck

If he is hurting, you can give him baby orajel (either with your finger or with those ones that come in the little Q-tip tubes). If he runs a fever (even a slight one) you can give a LITTLE children's tylenol.
If he's not hurting, and you're worried, give him something soft to chew on - teething ring or wet washcloth that has been placed in the freezer for about 5 min or so - and try to keep rough or super-hard stuff out of his reach. (not so much that it's dangerous, but it hurts more than something that's giving)

i say get him bonjella, it is a pleasent tasting gel that u rub on the babies gum. This will make it numb and won't hurt so much for him. I have used it for sores in my mouth and it really works! I love the taste as well, so if ur looking for something to help, bonjella will work!

I wouldn't give him tylenol as long as he's not crying. You really want to give him any medicines as little as possible because they can have undesired effects.
And hey, wet a wash cloth and freeze it.... let him chew on that... works like a charm
Also vanilla extract has a natural numbing effect.

Yes if your child is in pain, you can give him tylenol and even motrin to relieve the lil' guy. I JUST gave my daughter motrin for the same purpose and she is feeling much better. Good Luck!
