Is it a sin to ignore God's commandments to love one another in order to comb through a book looking for reasons to hate?

I think that you should really study what it meant to make a cut on your body for the dead, because in the same passage is about tattooing. There has to be some religious reason that people did that back in those times which wouldn't be relevant today. However, if you feel in your heart that it is wrong, you should not do it. Just as if someone doesn't feel convicted, they should feel free to do it. The important thing is to respect each other's convictions without criticizing each person's sensibilities.

Getting advice from the Bible is retarded. I have a logic reason to think tattoos are stupid, why would you want to put something to your body that cannot be deleted?, you put "the love of you life"'s name on your arm today and next month you hate him/her, can you delete it?, no, you have to cover it up with another tattoo or have it "removed" which actually means you will still see the name in the form of a scar, it doesn't matter how much money you have, if you get the best surgeon you cannot delete a tattoo, look at Angelina Jolie, she has all the money in the world and you can still see the scar where her lover's name tattoo was.

well it depends on what you want to look at. we can look at the new translation of the bible which says that yes it is a sin to get a tattoo or we can look at the history and the original translation of the bible. history tells us that the word tattoo comes from the Polynesian word tau tau. which was not even discovered as a word or incorporated into the English language until the Polynesian islands were discovered almost a thousand years after the bible was written. also we can look at original translations of the bible in which there are only references to marking or scarring your body in remembrance of the dead. all that being said i would have to say that no getting a tattoo is not a sin unless it is in remembrance of the dead. and in fact my pastor agrees as do the elders of my church.

No. It's called historical context. Other cultures at the time commonly cut and marked themselves to honor their gods, and the writer of Leviticus was imploring the people not to do likewise. A friend of mine from college got his mother's name tattooed on his arm after she died. If that's a sin, I'll eat this keyboard.

No. That was b/c back then people would get tattoos that were part of idolatrous Canaanite worship. It was reference to like thousands of years ago. But, as for today in your life, u have to decide if that's something you want on your body for the rest of your life.

I have a mark from God , I don't need anymore.
Is it a sin ? I don't know
I see tattoo's as art, but I don't see myself as a piece of canvas.
On that one I'm just a bit confused, so I'm not taking any chances.

If it is, there is a lot of sinners out there. But, you know what, if your worried about that and want a tattoo, just ask for forgiveness after the fact.
