I know alot, but, I need to know more. I researched it prior to watching the movie 300. What I need is, Maps, life, people, economy, military, etc...in detail. I know the basic ideas and principles, though I need way more. The reason is because I am going to create a mod in Oblivion thats literally Sparta. I have a whole storyline thought out, but I need all the information so I can build the city, and make the people like Spartans. So yeah...where can I get information?

Sparta was a militaristic city-state. They used the class system and had 2 kings at all times. Soldiers were in the top tier of society and were waited on hand and foot. The common person , or helot, worked in the fields to support the army. The Army's main job was preventing the helots from revolting. Skilled tradesmen had a special place somewhere between the helots and the soldiers. Women were for making babies, and thats about it. Daughters weren't even given names, they got numbers. At nine years of age, boys entered the army. They married young, but weren't allowed to see their wives until they reached 30 years of age. Only perfect babies were allowed to live. An infant with any defect at all would be left outside to die of exposure. Military training was exceptionally brutal. The mortality rate among boys in military training was high. Once training was complete, they made superb soldiers. Fearless fighting machines who killed without mercy. Some battles were decided by the mere presence of the Spartan Army. Enemies tended to flee rather than face them in combat. At Thermopylae, when the Persians' emissary came to demand their surrender, the Spartans were sitting around braiding their hair in full view of the million man army to show their contempt for them. If Ancient Greece could have united with Athenians leading and Spartans fighting, the Greeks would have conquered the world.
