Just write about how you feel...or what makes you mad, sad, happy, excited...and your experiences....read books, check into the old music...you have to know the history. There are inspirations all around you, you just have to look at everything in a different way than other people...be creative...You should also really expand your vocabulary and learn interesting words to help describe...use prepositions to help paint a picture in the peoples head...good luck :D

I don't write anymore but I used to. I was pretty good at it. To start, I wrote about whatever the big dilemma was in my life. No matter what it was, I found words for it. I started using a thesaurus when I was having trouble, and it not only helped me with music lyrics, it increased my vocabulary! The first thing to remember is forget about the chords you are playing. I always tried to sing along with the chords exactly. My songs always came out better when I just let loose and "felt the moment". Just don't be afraid to let go and be yourself. It will come to you naturally if you were really meant to do it.

My advice to you is read a poem or a book. It also depends upon the music, that you play. If it is a mellow type of song then i suppose poems are good for that. I don't mean like exactly taking out words from a book or a poem but making it as an inspiration. If it's a rock song or heavy metal, maybe you should listen to other rock songs, as I said don't copy the exact words, just inspire yourself.
Good luck on that!! Hope I've helped!!!

You can put in chords that are not part of the key; this is done with a lot of contemporary music. You could leave out a key signature and people would probably assume it is C major or A minor, but you can do whatever you want and somebody will probably like it.

You might want to check out some of my earlier best answers cos I don't have the time to actually type it out now and cutting and pasting is just tacky.

Try to tell a little story.
It will go together better if it rhymes!
Good luck with it!
