I'm thinking about shotgunning a few beers beforehand. Good or bad idea?

i don't think that's a good idea..it will boost your self-esteem alright, but at all risks.
review possible questions, have answers. that way you will anticipate the interview and you will satisfy exactly what the employer wants to know...
prepare what you need to bring -- your work samples, resume copies, other portfolios so you don't have to cram your way to the interview...
and then, sleep early a night before the interview. you have to look fresh, so the impression is positive.

Wish u had said what ur interviewing for. If for a company, find out all u can about the company u applied to. Be prepared to answer questions like.....What do u have to offer job wise to this company? What assets do u possess that we should consider u for the job? What is ur salary expectations ? Have a figure in mind beforehand. Skip the drinking, dress neatly and show some confidence, don`t fidget or stammer. Sell urself without being arrogant. Good luck, hope u get the job.

Sleep well. Eat a good breakfast. Dress well. Arrive a few minutes early. That's what to do beforehand (beer is ill advised, btw)
Have a list of questions to ask the employer, about the job, about the environment, about co-workers; that's what to do during.
After? NOW the beer!

I would start with a shower, and I would skip the beers - with or without the 'shotgun'.
Of course, you could always try chewing on a Now-n-Later candy and yanking your crown off while inbetween jobs like I did and develop a raunchy and powerful case of halitosis in the meantime.

I think it's best to be sober for the interview....are you going to do the same thing everyday that you work? I hope not. They want the same person they interviewed as their worker. (Is this interview even for a job? lol hope so) It's your choice though.

Skip the beer.
You should do the following before your interview
Shower.,Shave,Brush your teeth, put on deodorant.,comb your hair
make sure your clothes are good looking for the interview as well.
