genius.. if you segregate 10 from 20 , you still got 10 left somewhere!

an equation is like a scale
both sides must be equal at all times

so when you have 20 -10 = 10 it works like this

lets say
20 = 20
ok?

lets rewrite that as
10 + 10 = 20

now you can do whatever you want to both sides of the equation -- it is a scale so as long as you do it to both sides it remains balanced
so let's take 10 away from both sides
10 (and we took away the other 10) = 20 - 10 (taking the ten away from this side too)

so
10 = 20 - 10
or
20 - 10 = 10

so what happened to the other 10? It got taken away from both sides of the equation

Subtraction is just a mathematical process used to describe a situation. For example, a store has 20 apples. Johnny walks in and buys 10 apples, so now the store only has 10 apples left. The other 10 apples are in Johnny's possession. Matter (like energy) is always conserved, so whenever math is used to describe a real situation, the number "went" somewhere. In our example, Johnny took the other 10, but it depends on your situation.
Cheers!

The answer is, "it depends"

There are infinitely many ways to take 10 apples from 20 apples. Some people take 10 apples away from 20 to eat them all and share with their family. Others take 10 apples away from 20 to put into the juicer and make apple juice. Then, there are others who are downright wasteful and throw away the 10 apples into the ocean never to be seen again.

And that's just talking about one object!

So to answer your question, the other 10 went where the taker desired. Unless the taker of the 10 was robbed at gunpoint and it was taken against his/her will.

20 -10 means
you have 20 things okay
you take 10 things away and put it in a another place
you have rest 10 with you
this leads to the equation
20-10=10

20 was a positive guy. -10 was a negative guy. they fought and since 10 only had -10 hit points 20 prevailed and walked away a positive ten. The other ten was lost in battle.

It depends on what you are discussing. If 20 (what) minus 10 (what) is 10.....
If you had 20 pies, and 10 of them were eaten, you will have 10 pies left, and some full guests!

Well, it depends on what you take away and where you put them. If you have 20 apples and you take away 10 what do you do with the apples? do you eat them? if so then the 10 will go into your stomach.

people like you are scientist type.
The question looked foolish, but it showed the depth of your logical mind.

You couldn't say where the 10 goes, because it is not energy.
it is numbers.
Numbers can be added / subtracted / ultiplied / divided any where you want.
Tracking where the number goes is the process stuff, arithmatics is the result stuff.
Hope you could understand.
