Then why would we let the government violate it in order to protect our freedoms?

There is a delicate balance between personal freedom and liberty, and safety and security. Unfortunately the average citizen is uncaring about and under educated in the situation. I personally shuddered when the initial Patriot Act was passed because of the number of liberties it gives law enforcement without legal checks and balances. It is not surprising at all that there are stories of abuses out now, it was only a matter of time.

Foolishness, paranoia, and disregard for the laws.

Many people think that the Constitution is so old, that it doesn't have much value any more. Others argue that the ends justify the means, and therefore if the govt is claiming to act in our best interests, then it really doesn't matter if they break the law doing it.

It's tragic that not only do so few people actually read or understand the Constitution, but that so many people seem to have abandoned the rule of law.

I wrote an essay talking about this subject (link below) and trying to give some analogies. It's not that people don't realize what they're allowing -- it's that they just don't care.

Because too many people buy marketing rhetoric from politicians. Or simply apathy.

"Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason why so few engage in it."
-Henry Ford

The government in general have forsaken the words of Thomas Jefferson: "If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy."

And the people have forsaken the words of Benjamin Franklin: "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Edmund Burke, 1784: "The people never give up their liberty but under some delusion."

Because our current government has used every trick in the book to keep the average citizen in a Hypnotic Trance over the past 7 years. With Chem-trails, to HAARP towers with ultra low FM signals that effect our brains to the Subliminal Messages that they force upon us as we watch TV, it's all bad.

No, men, real men standing up and laying down their lives for an ideal is the basis for all our freedoms. I know, they don't teach that in waaa school anymore.

Ever wonder which constituition are we using in planet of apes?
Is it our creator's universal constituition and universal laws or ghostly constituition and ghostly laws from the graveyards of different ancestor's custom in planet of apes?
Ever wonder what the Liberation of Freedom is all about back from after world war two in planet of apes?
