You all seem nicer. I didn't feel comfortable about someone asking me for food and so I didn't give to him... I just didn't know if I should or not.

I guess I am not very nice even though he is hungry but I didn't give him food. Well, because I thought ppl are not nice or kind towards me too and made me feel bad all the time, so I don't know why I should be kind at all... If I don't have money, noone is going to help me anyways, so why should I be so kind to others?? And I also wouldn't like to ask strangers for money or food anyways if I don't have any...

So many of the "homeless" or "hungry" people you see in America are anything but. Offer to TAKE them to a food joint and feed them. If they turn you down, then they're just wanting the money for something else. I have actually heard of cases where people have given "homeless" and "hungry" people in America food, and the so-called homeless guy threw it back in the gal's face and asked for the money. Needless to say, she walked away.

I have seen homeless and hungry people in foreign countries. These people will spend ALL day every day on their knees on hard concrete with their faces on the ground, not get up for lunch, and begging for just a little bit of money. THAT is true need, and you can see it in their eyes, in their faces. THAT would be the only reason I would give a person on the street in America money over food.

On the other hand, I am usually pretty willing to give people on the street who claim to be hungry FOOD and WATER. I won't give people on the streets money to feed their drug habits, however, which is why I prefer to either bring them food or take them to a food joint.

We were walking down the street in a big city, and some guy asked one of my friends for money for food. She had a bag of leftovers from the restaurant we had just came from, and she gave him that. He got a snotty attitude, but he took it. He was not greatful for it at all. If he was so hungry, he would have taken it, minus the tude. He was really just after the money.

That's why I don't give people any money if they come to me on the street asking for it.

Give him food only if he is hungry and also incapable of earning it for himself. U would b cruel 2 give him anything just like dat if he is able-bodied bcoz u r denying him d challenge and dignity of earning and deserving his meal. Never try to offload ur own guilt on others.

I wouldn't borrow from that friend again then, if I were you. Not unless he gives you a free bite of his next pizza, and then you can shake on it. On the other hand, friends are supposed to share stuff. So, you should both take a really good look at yourselves.

i don't usually give money to homeless people because they never buy food, just beer. that's why they hang out near the Circle K. my husband does though, because he is so caring. sometimes we give them cheeseburgers from a fastfood place.

You should certainly give him something that you have at that moment not necessarily money. Do whatever is possible within your limits to help others.
