Society would have you believe so but I disagree. Humans have done so much evil and cruel things to each other that I couldn't blame anyone who doesn't like it.

Moral obligation is an interesting topic. I woulds say that a person is only morally obligated to like humanity if that persons own set of morals obligates them to do so. Still, this isn't the only way of approaching this conundrum. Others might say that man is not morally obligated to do anything because morals are a human construct that doesn't exist in "human nature."

Whatever the argument, what it comes down to is where you think morals come from and what those morals you have are. Me personally, I don't have this problem cause I like humanity to begin with, moral obligation to like humanity isn't really an issue.

Perhaps what this means is that you feel like you don't like humanity?

If that's the case, then I don't see why you're asking the question of other men since you already have a predisposition to not like their answers(since their answers are those of humans). Perhaps it would be best answered by introspection? Then again, you are a human too, so maybe you might dislike what you find there as well. LOL

I think that we don't have to feel morally obligated if we don't want to, but there the problem lies with ever human, we are all part of humanity. So morally or not, you are obligated to respect all of humanity.

Nah. But you should treat others the way you would like to be treated. Liking humanity just makes that a bit easier.

I have heard the expression 'hate the sin not the sinner' but really, in a way, are we not our actions? So really you're hating the person, too.

I don't understand the concept. I like ethics, I like perfection, I like 'the collection of people who may or may not be ready for these things' NO. I like them after they do.

If one is, how do explain people like Vlad the Impaler, Hitler, or Pol Pot?

Obligated? No. Is the world a better place when we CHOOSE to? Yes.

Certainly not; but then, of course, he would be very unhappy unless he were living as a hermit, because normal day-to-day life brings one into contact with any number of idiots and evil mo-fo's.

I don't, I consider humanity, and the human race, a plague on this planet.
