I'd stick with the former. The latter less paying job is not a guarantee of happiness and less money can never be good. Why don't you focus on the good things about the job you don't like instead of the negative. You might even end up liking it..........

penbuddy: How do you conclude that "money isn't everything"? I'd be interested in hearing about your extreme wealth experiences as well as your experiences being destitute. I believe that only if you've experienced both - you can legitimately come up with such remark.

bkzalley: ditto

redJimbo: How could you assume that $60000 is more than enough to cover the questioners expenses and assume that he'll even have enough for savings???????? Do you personally know this person???? I live a modest lifestyle and my bare minimum annual expenses are $73000 and that's without discretionary income. Savings, entertainment, vacations, clothing etc. are not included in this figure. Sometimes people really just need to wake up to a dose of reality!!!!

I quit a job that paid me a great deal more because I was very unhappy with what I was doing. Now I am happy with much less and don't have the stress and heartache like I did before. Money doesn't buy happiness and I am proof of that.

If i can pay all my bills with 60000 and be comfortable, i would take the 60000 job. Otherwise, i'd stay at the 80k job and save a lot of money. That way i can quit anytime and take a job i'd be happy at.

I would do the job that I was most happy with, as long as there was equal stability, future, growth, etc with that company.

Money isn't everything, you can't take it with you, and you only live ONCE.

if 60K is more than enough to cover yr commitments + have some saving....go for it.
happiness is way to live & it sure will improve your work performance. and good performance in your job will be rewarded accordingly.
