reevaluate yourself.

are you REALLY not qualified to work with him? if that is so, then push harder. and what makes you not qualified to do so? a self-assessment should be sufficient enough, you can also try to ask your other co-workers.

but you know, i think there's jealousy sparking up in the workplace. why were you hired if you're not capable of the job? your employer knows better, he hired you because he can see that you are useful in the office. your co-worker may be intimidated because you excel at work, thinking you're a newbie and he's not. NEVER let your self-esteem down because of that.

the best step for me is to do some clarifications, confront your co-worker and report that to your boss.

welcome to office politics...

He is behaving that way out of fear. He is afraid that he won't be the very best, maybe you will be, so he treats you bad hoping he will make himself look better. Keep in mind that what you give out always comes back, so he has a rough road ahead of him.
You just keep your chin up, keep smiling and be nice to everyone. It will pay off.

He sounds arrogant. Unless you have to itneract with him, just ignore him back. If you need his help, speak to the manager about hsi attitude.

He might just be a jerk dear....only interested in himself and his own little world. Don't worry about him and do your best at your new job.
