I'm 35 and I take Puritan's Pride ABC Plus for Senior. I used to take CENTRUM SILVER several years ago.

I stick with the multivitamins formulated for senior for a very good reason. Unlike the "regular" formula, the one "for senior" is iron-free. Men do not lose iron through menstruation. Most of us get enough iron from our regular diet. There's no reason for most men to take iron supplements. Iron is toxic when it is overdosed.

As a synthetic multivitamin, the only issue is limited bioavailability. A recent article published in JAMA states that such sources of vitamins are far from optimal.

Any multivitamin should be made from food sources, that includes the minerals. It should also be standardized and assayed to ensure that it contains the nutrients listed on the side of the bottle, each and every time you take it.

Very few multivitamins meet such criteria. At best, their usefulness is limited.

< Last week, major news publications reported on a peer-reviewed study from the Journal of the American Medical Association which found that a number of synthetic vitamins appear to be damaging the health of consumers. The meta-analysis indicated that the synthetic form of Vitamin A increased death risk by 16%, beta carotene by 7% and Vitamin E by 4%. The results for Vitamin C were not so clear, but by looking at the best quality trials there was a suggestion that it increased death risk by 6%, either on its own or in combination with other supplements.>>

No, you're fine. I am over 50 and I take the regular Centrum and I feel just great.

No you can take them just fine. The main thing is making sure it is a brand that is well absorbed by your body.
