the real Q is are you ready in the other aspects of life-situations like money, job, house, family support-(not that you have to have all that) if you do though and you are just wondering about yourself, I dont believe a person can really calm any doubts about being a parent. You just adapt to what comes your way. Many people are never what they would consider ready, but they do great anyway. But if you have the chance to provide a safe loving environment for a child, and you both want one-most would consider that ready.

You don't have to cut work hours after you get back from maternity leave unless you choose to. I chose to because I didnt want to leave my baby in the care of somebody other than a family member so I chose to work evenings part-time. My mom got home at 4, my husband got home between 5 and 6. I left for work about 5:15 so if he wasn't home before I left for work I'd take my daughter to my mom's and she'd watch her for a little while. I returned to work about 3 months after she was born and the first day was a little hard-I missed her. If you plan to breastfeed and work full time, you might want to look into purchasing an electric pump so you can use your breaks to extract milk for your baby. (Just be sure to refrigerate or freeze it if you have that option so the milk is ok to give to your baby when you get home). Hand pumps work ok but they take a lot more time to get the milk out. Also, be sure to get some nursing pads so you dont get caught with a wet shirt while at work.

well that is hard. I always knew that I wanted a baby no matter what and I was ready very young. If you are waiting for the right time... it will never come. There is always more money , or a promotion, or a raise. When you want it, then go for it, you are ready when you are willing to love the baby no matter what because any sacrifice is worth it.. that is when you are ready. It's in your heart

You will never be " ready" not now, not after 1 not after 2 not after3. Parenting and rearing children is not something you can anticipate. you have to roll with the punches and it is very rewarding and at times very much painful. but it is never something can be trained for
