Teaching English by making students to listen and learn the Sounds of words, NOT the spellings ! The village children (or ANY body, for that matter!) will learn to speak English the correct way, pronouncing words and acenting the right syllables, so that they are easily understood by anyone!

It's sounding out each letter rather than showing words to recognize. Phonics has been a more popular route for teaching english speaking children because once they hear the word they will recognize it. Word recognition may be better suited to a foreign student because you have to associate the sounds with something familiar to your ear.

Teaching English by the sounds. Remember that English is not pronounced as written, you have to learn the sounds of the different combinations of vowels and consonants.
