As a patriotic Englishman I'd have to say yes. The culture and history of our great island is second to none. Just looking around today it is obvious to see the effect Britain has had on the world, thanks largely to our industrial revolution.

Unfortunately, we are however governed (as I'm sure most Americans can sympathies with) by incompetent & selfish leaders (Tony I mean you!!!!)

Whilst most of our councils try to ban all things English, we should take a leaf out of the American's book, as there seems to be no nationality more proud of I'ts own country.

God Save the Queen!!!

No because my country is classified as one of the most depressing place to live in. And its true. I am depressed. Furthermore, even though historically this country belongs to my own race, it seems to have been taken over by the chinese. And our race find it difficult to find jobs so we have to settle for low-paying jobs. What do you call that? Racism? My race has become a minority in my country. The only thing I am proud of my country is the economy success. But by gaining that we have lost a lot of other things. Everyday is a mad rush. Cultures in workplaces have become such that you have to impress by working much more than the specified time, if not the boss will label us as lazy. geez ........ sigh

At times it can be ok (England/UK). I thought I would hate it... but that Jubilliee event they did around the UK and especially in London showed that their are still alot of people proud of our country and relatively free way of life.

Put it this way..... I can't think of too many countries I'd prefer to live in.

I'm proud of our open-minded, friendly people, and great natural landscapes including variety of beautiful plants and animals.
I'm not proud of leaders of this country who justify massacres in foreign lands by the name of "war" and big corporates who keeps producing ugly giant cars and stores and not respect the future of our planet.

The country, UK, is great. The government is the last one I give the job of organising a p*** up in a brewery, even if the brewery was supplying the glasses and the drink, they would even get that wrong.
