If you are sure that it does not come from clothing that is dirty from grease, like at some point you might have washed a load of clothing that had lots of grease on them and it collected around inside your tub, or that the grease is not coming in with the water like from a water well pump then, I would say you have a bad circulating pump on your washing machine and it is cheaper to just replace the pump than to repair the pump.

a good looking good degreaser can help the gadget, and attempt presoaking your husband's outfits. I worked on carnival rides for decades, and my outfits picked up truly some grease and hydraulic fluid. Now do not chortle, yet I used a can of Coca Cola and the usual volume of laundry cleansing soap to bathe my outfits and it truly helped to break down the grease. i imagine it became the carbolic acid contained in the coke.
