I had the one from Walmart (Bebe Sounds or something similar sounding to that name). TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! Especially since you're at the point now when you can feel the baby kick. The only things I ever heard with the cheap monitor were 1. My stomach growling and digesting food and 2. If the baby would kick the microphone. Use the money to stock up on diapers instead.

those ones suc. Sometiems you hear it sometimes you don't and then you freak out. The ones that work are the medical ones. I rented mine for $25 a month from bellybeats.com I heard the heartbeat right away (I got it at 17 weeks or so). I love it. i fell one day and paniced and listend, baby was fine.. just knwo that if you hear a slow heartbeat, that is yours echoing, dont' panic, babies is the fast one... But you need the medcial one. The one I am renting is a $500 doppler!

27 wks is about the start of the 3rd trimester. The monitors they sell in the store are similar to the ones that they use in the doctor's office, but probably not as strong since they say to use it in the 3rd tm.
