I just saw the trailer for the upcoming horror movie Vacancy. Is this movie about people that are victims of a snuff film? I thought snuff films were porn films and someone gets killed? So what is this movie about?

First off I wanna say I think this movie looks great and I can't wait to see it. But anyway to answer your question according to Wikipedia some define a snuff film as pornographic in nature. But the most common definition is of a motion picture showing the actual murder of a human being that is produced, perpetrated, and distributed solely for the purpose of profit. This definition thereby excludes recordings of murders caught by accident, and videotapes of actual murders that were never intended to be released as entertainment films.
The first summary is from Comingsoon.net ... The second is from imdb...

1. Vacancy -- When David (Luke Wilson) and Amy Fox's (Kate Beckinsale) car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, they are forced to spend the night at the only motel around, with only the TV to entertain them... until they discover that the low-budget slasher movies they're watching were all filmed in the very room they're sitting in. With hidden cameras now aimed at them... trapping them in rooms, crawlspaces, underground tunnels... and filming their every move, David and Amy must struggle to get out alive before whomever is watching them can finish their latest masterpiece.

2. Vacancy -- A young married couple becomes stranded at an isolated motel and finds hidden video cameras in their room. They realize that unless they escape, they'll be the next victims of a snuff film.
