OK I am the self proclaimed queen of laundry!
Now these are general instructions due to the fact that different materials all have different instructions. I dont know if we are talking Jeans and T-shirts or What type of clothing you have!
First of all you need to wash all of your "Delicates" (Lace, silk basically your undies and bra's) on the gentle cycle with warm water (If there are NO NEW ONES, the color may fade if they are new! If there are new ones use cold water.) by themselves with NO BLEACH! even they are white it does not matter, nothing is worse on a bra than bleach!
Towels and socks can be washed together with hot water, regular cycle, If all are white feel free to use bleach on them. If they are not white, I suggest using vinegar or ammonia in the wash with them either one you can get at the grocery store for about a dollar! (I personally use ammonia It just brightens them up and gets musty smells out but stand back, it will take your breath!!!)
Jeans should be washed with the darks (Regular cycle, warm water) and do not put too many pairs in the wash or it gets to heavy. For every load I never put more that 6 pair in the washer.
Lights should be washed regular cycle, warm water.
Whites can be bleached (unless it says otherwise on the tag) on regular cycle with any temperature.
NEVER overload your washer...your clothes will get messed up and may not come clean. Losely fill the washer with clothes until you are about 3/4 of the way up and go no further so it will have room to move.
Hope this helps...any questions, email me!

okay your undergarments would be washed all together on a cycle called delicates.
Wash the whites together and only use warm water.
Wash the colors(all colors other than white) get washed in cold water.
Make sure you are not using a bleach detergent(it will say on the bottle) in the colors, or you will have faded clothing.
Absolutely do not use hot water as most of your clothes will shrink.
if your washer has a setting for water level just figure how full you have the washer and adjust accordingly. Imagine 1/4 load, 1/2 load, 3/4 load or full. then turn the dial on the level acordingly. If you are washing a smaller load, you can use less soap than a full load. Too much soap will also damage the clothes. The scoop relates the same way as the water level.
Good Luck.

I separate by colors, including bras and panties. If it's green, it gets washed with all things green, unless I can't make a full load out of green, then they go in the "light blue" pile. The only special load I have is those clothes that need bleaching.
I wash every single load on cold with cold water detergent, and very rarely do I use any other setting on the machine like "permanent press" and such. Course it's been tweaked over the years, but I've never noticed a difference between the different load settings; clothes come out the same either way.

Hey, your on the right track. I used cold water and cold water detergent on all my laundry. Keeps things from shrinking. Bras should be washed on a gentle cycle, whites and light colored ones can be washed together but I would do darker ones in another load. Some of the newer washer have a hand wash cycle on them. Read the directions on the laundry soap if you're in doubt about the temperature.
Good Luck

All Darks = Cold Wash, All Whites= Hot wash, All Pastels=Warm wash or cold, Bras and "thingies" can be washed on a "delicate" cycle and should probably be dried on a permanet press cycle on your dryer.
Also, remember that if you buy any clothing new that is dark or Red wash them each by themself first because alot of times the clothing is saturated with too much dye and will cause the color to get on your other clothes thus turning color. Good Luck

It sounds like you are on the right track:) I sort mine just like you do almost. Colors seperated from whites...but I do all jeans together, and all towels together. That way you can throw your undies in with the dark colors and the jeans won't be in there to tear them up. I personally wash everything in Warm water with Cold rinse. EXCEPT things that will fade bad~use Cold & Cold for them. Or if you have a load of whites, if they are really dirty..use Hot & Cold with bleach in with your detergent. (As long as there isn't anything in the load that says NO Bleach. If you are worried about bras and panties, you can buy a "lingerie bag"..it's a mesh bag..& you put them in it and throw them in the washer to help keep them from getting damaged..AND, maybe Dad won't run across them;)LOL
I really like Gain with Bleach detergent (It's color safe) & Downy. I hope this helps!
Good Luck!!

OK since u have already managed to sort them, if u want your personal thing such as bras and thongies, put in a separated bag (they sell them at the store, they have little holes in them) that way they stay in there, no one sees them and u know were they are at all times (no one else has to touch them)... remember things with color sometimes bleed color so u want to use cold water and the lights warm and the whites use hot water ... hope that was able to help some ok...

I'm a male and I just put all of my clothes together and wash em with laundry detergent. But I heard that if you want to wash white clothes and get em sparkling clean, put some bleach in it but no laundry detergent. DO NOT put any color clothes with bleach, it will wash the color out and stain your white clothes. That's all I know.

its easy buy a laundry-pure. that's what i did. no more detergent, fabric softeners, hot water, or bleach. after the first several loads you wont even need to separate your clothes anymore.
