It didn't work. Just like drug laws. Prohibition led to more organized crime. Cost lives. Cost tax payer dollars. And accomplished nothing other than to drive ordinary citizens to break the law and live their lives underground or in speakeasies.

It also peaked America's fascination with liquor instead of tempering it.

Prohibition was bad even though I do not believe people should drink. Drug laws are bad, though I agree people should not do drugs.

But neither should have ever been made illegal.

It is futile to make illegal something that a large proportion of the population enjoys.
