1) What makes you think it is very stuck ?

2) Are you sure the fuel pump eccentric on the cam lobe is not rounded off ?

3) You dont need to drop the pan - there is a pipe plug under the fuel pump boss where the pushrod slides in & out.

4) If it is truely stuck as you think - you can take the intake manifold off & probably get a soft metal or wood dowl to force it down the bore with the fuel pump out. Then I would get a good penetrating oil such as liquid wrench & fill the bore & let it sit to dissolve the varnish.

5) Or - if you really want to be a lazy *** - you can block off the fuel pump with a fuel pump block off plate & rig up an electric fuel pump. Make sure you put in a safety circuit like running the power through an oil pressure switch so you dont burn yourself up in case of an accident or roll over - you want the fuel pump to die when the engine dies..

6) GO to the local high performance engine machinist - every one of these guys has a 454 on an engine stand right now because we are heading into boat season - he can show you exaclty what to do ..Its not a big deal.
