I have to have a clinical interview with a psycholigist for a very important job (I've already taken a modified from of the MMPI-2, which Im sure she'll be referencing). My question is this... is there anything I can od to make a good impression? What do psychologists look for anyway in that department? Obviously, appearance is important as I was told to dress up, so this has to be more than just mind games, but they can't be as easy to impress as normal people, right?

Apart from looking whether you're able fit the slot they want you to fill, psychologists are often interested in something called 'low defenses,' i.e. that your 'ego' is so strong that you don't need to defend yourself. Like when you're nervous, you are able to say with a smile something like: 'Gee, I'm really a little nervous,' or when she is trying to provoke you, you stay calm and consider that the provocation might be true. So when people recommend you to be genuine, to show vulnerability, or to mirror her (I wouldn't recommend mirroring unless you are very, very good at it), this is all about this.
A good way to get there is downplaying the interview in your mind, considering her a friend or family member or your application for the job a gesture of generosity (you're the best).
Btw, studies show that these people do not usually have a superior ability to judge future job performance (the tests are better). So they don't know anything really...
Good luck!

I study psychology and must say, that preparing somehow for clinical interview is, or should be, expected by the Psychologist.
And doing so, will neither change your psyché, and nor the test results. Acting, as being recognized by a psychologist, is a sign of self underestimation and vice versa may result in even worse results :)
You shouldn t worry,
I wish the best of luck to you.
And I hope you got the job.

You can not impress a psychologist.
It is more important to be yourself.
If you have achieved this level of the interview process, she will be wanting to know whether you can handle the job.
Just dress well and go with what you understand to be yourself.

You have to be impressive enough to convince them that you are the person for that job. And that probably means that you will have to play the game to win. I cant tell you how to do that. You have to have the confidence and winning attitude and confidence and realize what your chances are and if you lose, try again. Good Luck

Be completely honest. If you're willing to put yourself out there good or bad you will gain trust. They are trained to know if you aren't. I'm not trying to imply that you're dishonest it's just that the little white lies we use in everyday conversation to keep things smooth won't fly in this situation.

They will be looking to see that you are dressed appropriatly. It shows your ability to judge a situation. But you already took the MMPI - so she has everything she needs to know already as far as the job is concerned.
Make an effort to be polite and courteous - the majority of her job is already through

Keep it real. What are your goals and why are you motivated to do this job? She wants someone who is driven and intelligent.
