hello I have a 3 week old. First time mommy. My daughter slept all day and night the first 2 weeks but now she stays awake for a couple of hours each day , but she likes to stay awake at night. Everyone says they sleep alot and we should take advantage of it. My doc told me babies sleep 16 or more hours a day. Take care and congrats on the baby.

My daughter is now 3mths old but when she was 3wks old she only woke every 3-4 hrs for a feed and thats it she would sleep ALL the time. But its normal they'll only sleep when they need it. She now stays awake for maybe 1-2hrs at a time sometimes not even that then goes back to sleep and she will sleep 8-12hrs at night. But my Oldest daughter who is now 2 did not sleep at all during the day or night. she'd only sleep a few hrs at a time, she'd be awake more then be asleep. If you are worried by how much or little your baby is sleeping ask a midwife to ease your mind.

My baby is 4 months, but I remember 3 weeks like it was yesterday.
Mine was up most of the night. I was happy if she slept 2 hours at a time. I nurse, so she woke up more that I hear formula babies do.
She slowly started sleeping longer and by 2 1/2 months was sleeping through the night (7-9 hrs). Let me know if you want what worked for me.
Good luck and have fun.

My daughter is 10 weeks old now, but she never has slept very much. During the day, I was really lucky to get her to sleep 30 minutes straight.

no longer very lots. maximum newborns oftentimes sleep a minimum of 19 hours an afternoon, and wakeful quite often at nighttime. this might probable final a couple of minutes, say 3 months of age or so. that's totally primary so do no longer hardship. today they have their days and nights puzzled and is doing alot of becoming. in case you desire her wakeful extra, you ought to attempt fidgeting along with her, chatting along with her, pass her around alot, substitute her outfits and diapers extra oftentimes ( maximum toddlers seem to hate those) provide her a tub, etc etc. Your toddler is somewhat primary. Congrats on her and Merry Christmas.
