Do NCAA Basketball analysts know what they're talking about?

I just saw Dick Vitale, Digger Phelps, Jay Bilas and Donald Williams make their Elite 8 picks on Sportscenter. They all picked every number one and all but one number 2 to play each other, really original. Wow, those are great predictions! You guys really know what you're talking about.

I was thinking the same thing - it's way too easy to just chalk up three or four #1 seeds in the final four, and mostly 1's and 2's in the elite 8. They just go with the safe picks to seem intelligent and walk away with a clean slate...ie: if they pick Florida to make the final 4, and UF falls short, well it's a bit of a shocker and the "expert" analyst doesn't seem so stupid. Now if they pick a boom or bust team like Nevada to go deep, and Nevada falls short, well then the expert looks like an idiot. The only thing that I noticed is that most of the analysts seem to be on Georgetown's jock at the moment, so we'll see how that ones goes...
