Logically, no. Knowing lots of trivia does not make you smart. Whether you know lots of trivia because you are smart depends on how you define intelligence.
Intelligence -- IQ tests, SAT scores and the like -- are usually based on a combination of reasoning skills, comprehension skills, creative skills, and memory. Remembering trivia isn't going to help you improve your intelligence, but being intelligent may help you remember trivia.

Yes and no. Trivia indicates a capacity for knowledge, which generally indicates intelligence. However, if a person is unable to apply their knowledge, or unable to understand beyond simple facts, then they would not be considered intelligent, no matter how much they knew.

Yes, it shows that they have an ability to put trivial knowledge together as a cohesive whole - they remembered it because it interested them for one thing - and it shows intellectual curiosity. People who are unintelligent do not have curiousity for learning things.
