You start to smarten up after you get bit by a bug, and then you tend to avoid that bug when it comes near you again.
Also means that you've learned your lesson after a punishment..

i'm ignoring the idiom purely because of the fact i will hehe ... Suck it up John! Biting is what makes the chaos. Digging works too in maximum circumstances yet i will choose for something at this element
