We've just started trying to feed our baby the rice cereal recommended by our docter. She does not seem care for it at ALL! We've tried mixing Applesauce or bananas in with it. Is there any hope? Are there any other technics?

We do mix it with her formula, and our docter says we should begin to introduce food to her.

my son doesn't do well with my wife feeding him cereal and that kind of stuff, so that was odd to us because she is his main feeder. but our lil guy is the worlds best eater when i feed him his cereal or whatever comes from a spoon and bowl. maybe she is just used to getting milk from you but will try new things from her daddy?

I was in the same position, I tried to feed her rice cereal and she was not having it. I gave it a rest for a little while, maybe a month or so. Then I bought just the Bananas. At first she was really liking that either, but then as I kept being persistent she finally started to open her mouth and I didnt have to do any of the work. I personally dont like the rice cereal it is only to try to teach them, there is no taste to it, but I would just go straight to the bananas! They love the fruit and your baby will just take to it when they are ready! Its amazing!

6 months is when you should start your baby on cereal, and you shouldn't try so many things all at once. Your baby is going to appear not to like the food because she doesn't know what to do with it, she doesn't know how to eat it, so spitting it out is easier. You need to consult your Dr before giving her more food. Her cereal should be made using breast milk or formula and very runny like duck sauce from the Chinese restaurant. You should only introduce 1 fruit a week so you can make sure she isn't allergic or that it doesn't upset her belly. I noticed it said "rice cereal recommended by our Dr." I am very shocked that a Dr would recommend such a young child to eat cereal, 3 kids later and my Dr is still saying to start them at 6 months the earliest, breast fed babies don't even need to start then, they can really wait a while longer unless the child seems too hungry all the time.

it's a little young for solids, but try mixing the cereal with breast milk or formula. fruit should be the last thing you introduce into the baby's diet.
taste the rice cereal -it's not very good and quite bland. maybe your baby just doesn't like it. there is no rule that states your baby has to eat it.

Your doctor should know that babies are meant to exclusively breastfeed for the first 6 months. The idea of starting at 4-6 months is outdated. You should only start before 6 months if baby is showing signs of readiness. If she's not interested, she's not ready. She doesn't need anything but breastmilk right now.

4 1/2 months is a bit early that is probably why she is not interested. Wait until she is about 6 months old before introducing solids.
otherwise what you did is good. Mixing it with fruit is a good idea. Do the same in a month and half and she will probably gobble it down!

My baby boy gobbled it up while my friend's baby girl of the same age spit most of it out. Try mixing it much thicker than the recommended amount. He had a much easier time eating it. By the way, it takes about 4 bites which look hideously nasty in order for them to "get it!" It's the texture not the flavor that bugs!

Make sure it is very, very runny. Mix with plenty of formula or breast milk. They usually spit it out for a few days, that is normal. Try once a day for a few days. If it makes you uncomfortable, try waiting two more weeks and try again. Some Dr. say its ok to wait until 6 months, but you should go with what your pediatrician says.

Have you tried using different fruit juices. You have to remember that young taste buds are super sensitive. They only need a small amount of flavor. Oherwise it seems over powering to them

Our daughter liked it. maybe try applesauce or banana without the cereal and see how she does then.
