It will handle a turbo, but that depends on the boost pressure of the turbo. The motor will more than likely blow a head gasket, and the transmission might not be built to withstand the extra HP. If the transmission is a stick that would be a different story though. If your going thru the trouble of putting the money into a turbo then you should consider rebuilding the top end of the motor and make sure that you start using synthetic oil, as it scorches less from the heat of the turbo. Also throw on an intecooler as it can give u an extra 30+hp.

I don't know why you would want to put a turbo in a lumina. I would becareful. I have seen the aluminum heads melt around the plug a couple of times before. of course that was in a 95 and 96 lumina.

I'd pass and find a better candidate. For one it has a lot of miles. Two it's a front wheeler. It would provably be easier to try and drop in a 3.8 supercharged engine and trans. But then you still have the computers, fuel system, cooling system and other things to contend with.

the 3.1's are pretty solid engines, but im not sure the tranny would hold up to the added high-end horsepower you'd be gaining. if you really want to do it, i would start by adding a BIG aftermarket tranny cooler.

theres no point in turboing said car. Its still going to be very heavy and very slow. And very unreliable.

save your money and buy a car thats meant to be modified.
